How Does this combination medicine ( Glimepiride, Metformin & Pioglitazone ) Work :-

This tablet is a combination of three antihyperglycemic medicines: Glimepiride, Metformin and Pioglitazone.

When single combination drugs or double combination drugs are ineffective in controlling blood glucose levels, more than two combination drugs are used.
These combination drugs then help to work by different mechanisms to provide better control of blood sugar.

The Glimepiride in this medicine is a sulfonylurea which works by lowering the blood sugar by increasing the amount of insulin released by the pancreas.

Metformin increases the body's sensitivity to insulin by reducing the production of glucose in the liver and delaying the absorption of glucose from the intestines.

Whereas pioglitazone is a thiazolidinedione which further enhances insulin sensitivity.

Thus both these medicines ( Glimepiride, Metformin & Pioglitazone ) help in reducing the level of blood sugar.
