This medicine works by reducing the amount of "bad" cholesterol (LDL) in the blood and increasing the amount of "good" cholesterol (HDL). It reduces the amount of cholesterol that builds up on the walls of the arteries. Thus reducing the amount of high cholesterol reduces the chances of heart diseases.

Thus it slows down the production of cholesterol in the body and reduces the amount of cholesterol that builds up on the walls of the arteries.
