Dapagliflozin is prescribed to control high blood sugar levels in type 2 diabetes mellitus for adult patients above 18 years of age.

Dapagliflozin Uses :-
Dapagliflozin is an antihyperglycemic agents, used to control type 2 diabetes mellitus (high blood sugar levels) in adult patients above 18 years of age.
Dapagliflozin can be used alone or in combination with other antidiabetic drugs.
When Dapagliflozin is used along with a healthy diet and exercise, it helps a lot in controlling blood sugar.
Dapagliflozin is not indicated for use in patients with type1 diabetes and diabetic ketoacidosis.
Dapagliflozin Dosage :-
Dapagliflozin is a prescription medicine. Take Dapagliflozin as directed by your doctor. Use dapagliflozin exactly as directed by the doctor. Do not take a higher or lower dose than directed by your doctor.
Dapagliflozin should be taken immediately before or with a meal. Never self-medicate or change the dosage without a doctor's advice.
Do not take 2 or more doses at the same time.
Always try to take Dapagliflozin on regular schedule. Always take the tablet even if you feel well or your blood sugar level is under control. Do not stop taking without your doctor's advice. Otherwise, your blood sugar level may rise again. Do not stop taking Dapagliflozin without asking your doctor. Because the treatment of diabetes is lifelong.
Dapagliflozin Mechanisms of Action :-
Dapagliflozin works by blocking a protein in the kidney Which is called sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 (SGLT2). SGLT2 is a protein Which absorbs glucose from the urine into the blood flow as it is filtered into the blood kidney.
By blocking the action of SGLT2, dapagliflozin causes the removal of excess glucose through urine, which reduces the level of glucose in the blood.
Thus Dapagliflozin works by controlling the level of sugar in the blood.
Dapagliflozin Sideeffects :-
Like all medicines, Dapagliflozin can cause side effects, however not everyone may experience these side effects.
Some common side effects like :
Genital infection,
Nasopharyngitis (inflammation of the nose and throat),
Urinary tract infection,
Symptoms of hypoglycaemia : ( feeling shivering or restless, sweating, feeling hungry, feeling like your heart is pounding, dizziness ),
Difficulty urinating and many other side effects can occur.

Kidney - Unsafe,
dapagliflozin is probably unsafe to use in patients with kidney disease. Please consult your doctor for this.
Liver - As advised by your doctor,
dapagliflozin should be used with caution in patients with liver disease, dose adjustment of dapagliflozin 10mg Tablet may be needed in such patients. Please consult your doctor for this.

Driving and using machines - With Caution,
dapagliflozin has no adverse effect on the ability to drive and use machines. If your blood sugar is too low or too high, your ability to drive may be affected.
