Nitrofurantoin is used to treat urinary tract infections.
Nitrofurantoin works by killing the bacteria that cause the urinary tract infections.

Nitrofurantoin Dosage :-
Nitrofurantoin is a prescription medicine. Take Nitrofurantoin as directed by your doctor. Use Nitrofurantoin exactly as directed by the doctor. Do not take a higher or lower dose than directed by your doctor.
Nitrofurantoin is usually taken for urinary tract infections twice a day for at least 7 days. Take it with a full glass of water and food.
You should start to feel better during your first few days of treatment with Nitrofurantoin. If symptoms do not improve or get worse, consult your doctor.
Keep taking Nitrofurantoin until you have completed treatment, even if you feel better. If you stop taking Nitrofurantoin too soon or skip doses, the infection may become more difficult to treat and the bacteria may become resistant to antibiotics.
If you miss a dose, take the missed dose as soon as you remember. However, if it is time for the next dose, then the missed dose should be skipped. And take the rest of the dose for that day at equal intervals. Do not take a double dose to make up for the missed dose.

Like all medicines, Nitrofurantoin can cause side effects, however not everyone may experience these side effects.
Some common side effects like :
Dark yellow or brown urine,
Nausea,
Vomit,
Loss of appetite,
Shortness of breath,
Excessive fatigue,
Fever or chills,
Pain in chest,
Coughing up,
Numbness or tingling,
Muscle weakness,
Swelling of the tongue or lips,
Skin rash,
Niftas Tablet may cause other side effects as well. If you experience any symptoms while taking Nitrofurantoin.
If so, you should contact your doctor.
Some Precaution :-
Before taking Nitrofurantoin -
• If you are allergic to Nitrofurantoin. So tell your doctor.
• Tell your doctor that you are taking certain medications such as antacids, antibiotics, benztropine, diphenhydramine, probenecid, and trihexyphenidyl.
• If you have anemia, lung disease, kidney disease, nerve damage, or glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G-6-PD) deficiency. So tell your doctor before taking Nitrofurantoin.
• Women who are pregnant or planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding women taking Nitrofurantoin Tell your doctor before taking Nitrofurantoin.
Pregnant women should not take Nitrofurantoin in the last month.
• Talk to your doctor about the safe use of Nitrofurantoin in older people or people over 65 years of age. Older adults in general should not take Nitrofurantoin because it is not as safe as other medicines.
• Nitrofurantoin can make you drowsy. Do not perform mental tasks or operate machinery until you know how this medicine affects you.
• Ask your doctor about the safe use of alcohol while you are taking Nitrofurantoin. Because alcohol can make the side effects of Nitrofurantoin worse.
• Nitrofurantoin can make your skin sensitive to sunlight. Avoid prolonged or unnecessary sun exposure.
