Prostatitis Symptoms & Cause

About Prostatitis :-

Prostatitis is swelling and irritation of the prostate gland, a walnut-sized gland which is situated directly below the bladder in men. The prostate gland produces fluid (semen) that nourishes and transports the sperm.

Prostatitis usually lead to painful or difficulty in urination. Other symptoms involve pain in the groin, pelvic area or genitals and sometimes flu-like symptoms.
Prostatitis affects men of all ages but tends to be more usual in men 50 or younger. The situation has a number of causes. Sometimes the cause is not been identified. If prostatitis is caused by a bacterial infection then it can  usually be treated with antibiotics.

Depending on the cause, prostatitis can come on slowly or suddenly. It might improve quickly, by its own or with any treatment. Some types of prostatitis stay for months or keep recurring (chronic prostatitis).

Prostatitis Signs & Symptoms :-

Prostatitis signs and symptoms depend on the cause. They can involve :
• Pain or burning sensation while urinating,(dysuria)
• Difficulty in urinating, such as dribbling or hesitant urination,
• Frequent urination, mostly at night, (nocturia)
• Urgent need to urinate,
• Cloudy urine,
• Blood in the urine,
• Pain in the abdomen, lower back, or groin,
• Pain in the area between the scrotum and rectum, (perineum)
• Pain or stiffness of the penis or testicles,
• Painful ejaculation,
• Flu-like signs and symptoms. (with bacterial prostatitis).

When to See a Doctor :-

If you have pelvic pain, difficult or painful urination, or painful ejaculation, consult your doctor. If you are untreated, some types of prostatitis can cause worsening infection or other health related problems.

Prostatitis Causes :-

Acute bacterial prostatitis is mostly caused by similar strains of bacteria. The infection can start when bacteria in urine slik into your prostate. Antibiotics can be used in treatment to treat the infection. If they do not eliminate then the bacteria prostatitis might recur or be difficult to treat (chronic bacterial prostatitis).

Nerve which is damage in the lower urinary tract, which can be caused by surgery or trauma to the area, It might contribute to prostatitis not caused by a bacterial infection. In many of the cases of prostatitis, the reason is not identified.

Prostatitis Risk Factors :-

Risk factors for prostatitis are :
• Being young or middle-aged
• Having or had prostatitis previously,
• Having an infection in the bladder or the tube that transports the semen and urine to the penis, (urethra)
• Having pelvic trauma, such as an injury from horseback ridding or bicycling,
• Inserted into the urethra to drain the bladder using a tube, (urinary catheter)
• Having HIV/AIDS,
• Having or had a prostate biopsy.

Prostatitis Complications :-

Complications of prostatitis are :
• Infection of bacteria in the blood (bacteremia) ,
• Irritation of the coiled tube attached to the back of the testicle (epididymitis),
• Pus-filled cavity in the prostate,
• Semen abnormalities and infertility, which can take place with chronic prostatitis.
There is no direct proof that prostatitis can lead to prostate cancer.
