Dasatinib is a anti-cancer medicine used for the treatment of blood cancer (chronic myeloid leukaemia).
Dosage forms & Strength :-
Dasatinib 20 mg. is for oral use.
Dasatinib 50 mg. is for oral use.
Dasatinib 70 mg. is for oral use.
Dasatinib 100 mg. is for oral use.
What is Dasatinib used for :-
Dasatinib is an anti-cancer medication. Dasatinib is used to treat :
- Adults with newly diagnosed Philadelphia chromosome–positive (Ph+) chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) in chronic phase (CP).
- Adults with Ph+ CML who no longer benefit from, or does not tolerate, other treatment, involving imatinib.
- Adults with Ph+ acute lymphoblastic leukemia (Ph+ ALL) who no longer benefit from, or does not tolerate, other treatment.
- Children of 1 year age and older with Ph+ CML in chronic phase.
- Children 1 year of age and older with newly diagnosed Ph+ ALL in mixture with chemotherapy.
Dasatinib Dosage :-
Dasatinib is a prescription medicine.
Take Dasatinib properly as your doctor tells you to take it. Your doctor can change your dose of Dasatinib or temporarily stop treatment with Dasatinib. Do not change your dose or stop taking Dasatinib without consulting to your doctor.
Do take Dasatinib one time a day.
Do take Dasatinib with food or without food, in the morning or in the evening, at the same time each day.
Do swallow Dasatinib tablets fully with water
If your child cannot swallow tablets whole, talk to your doctor.
Don't cut, crush, or chew the Dasatinib.
What are the side effects of Dasatinib?
The most common side effects of Dasatinib in adults and children receiving Dasatinib alone include :
• Diarrhea,
• Headache,
• Skin rash,
• Shortness of breath,
• Tiredness,
• Nausea,
• muscle pain,
All these are not the possible side effects of Dasatinib. Consult your doctor for medical advice and if you have any new or worsening side effects.

Dasatinib works by blocking the action of the abnormal protein that signals cancer cells to multiply. This helps to stop or slow the spread of cancer cells.

Precautions & Warnings :-
• It is unknown if Dasatinib is safe and usefull in children under 1 year of age.
• Consult to your doctor about all of your medical conditions, including if you have any of these medical conditions :
- Problems with your immune system.
- Heart problems, including a state known as congenital long QT syndrome.
- Low potassium or magnesium levels in your blood.
- Lactose (milk sugar) intolerance.
Tell your doctor if you are :
Pregnant or plan to become pregnant. Dasatinib may harm your unborn baby.
Females who can become pregnant :
You should not become pregnant while treatment with Dasatinib.
• Talk to your doctor right away if you become pregnant or think you can be pregnant in treatment with Dasatinib.
• Males with female partners who can become pregnant:
• You should use helpful birth control (contraception) during treatment and for 30 days after your last dose of Dasatinib.
• Breastfeeding or plan to breastfeed. It is unknown if SPRYCEL passes into your breast milk. You must not breastfeed during treatment and for 2 weeks after your last dose of Dasatinib.
• Females who are pregnant must not handle crushed or broken Dasatinib.
•Inform your doctor about all the medicines you take, including :
- Prescription and over-the-counter,
- Medicines,
- Vitamins,
- Antacids,
- Herbal supplements,
• If you take an antacid medicine, take it
before 2 hours or after 2 hours your dose of Dasatinib.
• Dasatinib can interconnect with other medicines you are taking. This can change the relative benefit of Dasatinib or lead to unwanted side effects.
• While treatment with Dasatinib, make sure you also talk to your doctor before you start to take anything new. Your healthcare team can help identify any potential interactions and help find alternatives.
• Do not drink grapefruit juice while taking treatment with Dasatinib.
• If you forget a dose of Dasatinib, take your next scheduled dose at your regular time. Do not take two doses at the same time. Call your doctor if you are not sure what to do.
• Dasatinib may give rise to fertility problems in males and females. Talk to your doctor if this is a concern for you.
• Dasatinib can give rise to serious side effects, including those listed below.
Inform your doctor right away if you have any symptoms of the side effects below, or any other concerns about these side effects :
- Low blood cell counts,
- Bleeding problems,
- Your body can hold too much fluid (fluid retention),
- Heart and blood vessel (cardiovascular) problems,
- Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (PAH),
- Severe skin reactions
- Tumor Lysis Syndrome (TLS),
- Slowing of growth and development in children,
