Esmyra Tablet is a hormonal medicine. Esmyra Tablet is a combination of two hormonal medicines: Levonorgestrel and Ethinylestradiol.
Esmyra Tablet is an oral contraceptive (to prevent pregnancy) for women and used in the treatment of irregular periods.

Esmyra Tablet Dosage :-

Esmyra Tablet should be taken exactly as prescribed by your doctor.
Esmyra Tablet are intended for oral administration.
Esmyra Tablet is commonly taken with or without food once a day. 
Take Esmyra Tablet at around the regular time every day.
- Esmyra Tablet should be taken regularly for contraception.
- Esmyra Tablet should be started from the first day of a woman's natural cycle (i.e. the first day of her menstrual bleeding).
- Esmyra Tablet should be taken as one tablet daily at regular time every day for 21 consecutive days as directed on the package.
- The course should be restarted after each pack of Esmyra Tablet after a free 7-day interval.
- If Esmyra Tablet is missed, the last missed tablet should be taken as soon as it is remembered, even if it is time for the next dose or to take two tablets at the same time. After that, Esmyra Tablet should be continued at its usual time.
- If vomiting occurs within 3-4 hours of taking Esmyra Tablet, the tablet should be taken again. If the woman does not want to change her usual tablet-taking schedule, she can take an additional tablet from another pack.

Esmyra Tablet Side-effects :-

Like all medicines, Esmyra Tablet can cause side effects, however not everyone may experience these side effects.
• Nausea,
• Headache,
• Irregular uterine bleeding,
Most of these side effects are short term and get resolved with time. Although, if any of these side effects do not resolve with time or get poor, take a doctor's consultation as soon as possible.

Precautions & Warnings :-

• Esmyra Tablet should be taken at regular time.
• If vomiting occurs within 3-4 hours of taking Esmyra Tablet, the tablet should be taken again. If the woman does not want to change her usual tablet-taking schedule, she can take an additional tablet from another pack.
• If you are allergic to levonorgestrol or ethinyl estradiol, the components of Esmyra Tablet.
• Esmyra Tablet should not be used during pregnancy as Esmyra Tablet is used to prevent pregnancy. When you are diagnosed with pregnancy, you should immediately stop the use of Esmyra Tablet and consult your doctor.
• Esmyra Tablet should not be used during lactation as the components of Esmyra Tablet pass into breast milk which can harm the breastfed baby. In addition, the quantity of milk produced may also decrease and its quality may also be affected. You should consult with your doctor before using Esmyra Tablet during lactation.
• If you have a history of blood clotting or bleeding disorder.
• Do not stop taking Esmyra tablet in between. Complete the course of treatment. Discontinuation of Esmyra Tablet may result in treatment failure. If you have any concerns you should consult your doctor.
• If you have any heart related problems such as stroke, heart attack or chest pain etc.
• If you have a problem of migraine.
• If you have liver or pancreas problems.
If you have high blood pressure, diabetes or cholesterol disease.
• If you have a history of vaginal bleeding or absence for more than 3 months (amenorrhea).
• If you have cancer of the genital organs (private organs) or breast cancer.
• If you are taking medicines to treat hepatitis C such as ombitasvir / paritaprevir / ritonavir plus dasabuvir.
• If you have gall bladder, liver or inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis).
• If you have a blood disease that can damage the kidneys (hemolytic uremic syndrome).
• If you have systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) immune system disorder.
• If you have a history of pregnancy patches on the face (chloasma).
• If you have a disease that first appears during pregnancy such as porphyria (an inherited hemoglobin defect), hearing loss, gestational herpes (skin rash during pregnancy) and Sydenham's chore A (sharpness of the body, Irregular motion) accustomed.
• If you have a past history of severe allergic reactions, including swelling of the face and throat, difficulty breathing, skin rashes and blisters (hereditary angioedema).
• Esmyra Tablet can be used with other drugs such as drugs used to treat seizures (phenytoin, carbamazepine, etc.), drugs used to treat HIV infection (nevirapine, ritonavir), anti-infections (penicillins, griseofulvin, etc. medicines that cause stomach and intestinal problems (metoclopramide) which may alter the effects of Esmyra Tablet.
• Esmyra tablets should not be used concomitantly with certain anti-seizure medications such as lamotrigine and immunosuppressants such as cyclosporine (medicines used to treat rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, and Crohn's disease).
• Concomitant use of Esmyra tablets with certain types of antiviral drugs can affect your liver enzymes. Thus, the tablet should be stopped and restarted after 2 weeks of completing the treatment.
• Other drugs like Carbamazepine and Rifampicin should be used with caution.
