Meftaris Tablet is prescribed for the menorrhagia (heavy menstrual bleeding) and Menstrual Cramps (Dysmenorrhea).

Meftaris Tablet Composition :-

Meftaris Tablet consists of : Tranexamic acid 500 mg and Mefenamic acid 250 mg.
Tranexamic acid is a antifibrinolytic.
Mefenamic acid is a non-steroidal anti inflammatory (NSAID).

Meftaris Tablet Uses :-

Meftaris Tablet is used to treat menorrhagia (heavy menstrual bleeding) and dysmenorrhea (period pain).
Meftaris Tablet is use in treating pain and heavy bleeding during menstruation.
Meftaris Tablet cures the breakdown of blood clots, which helps to lower heavy menstrual flow. It also blocks the production of certain chemical substances responsible for causing pain.

Meftaris Tablet Dosage :-

Meftaris Tablet is a prescription medicine. Take Meftaris Tablet exactly as your doctor tells you to take it, and can be taken with or without food. 
It is suggested that you take it after food to avoid an upset stomach. Have plenty of water to avoid dehydration.
It must be taken as a whole tablet without crushing or breaking it.
Tell your doctor if you notice any abnormalities in your menstrual cycle.
Meftaris Tablet is helpfull when taken on the first day of your menstruation.
Do not increase your dose or take it more often, or take it for a longer time than recommend.
Inform your doctor if your condition does not improve after two consecutive cycles.
Do not take more or less than the recommended dose, or for a longer duration than recommended. Follow the dose as ordered by your doctor.
Meftaris Tablet is more helpfull if you take it on the first day of your period. Inform your doctor if your bleeding does not get better after using Meftaris Tablet for two consecutive cycles.
If you undergo any severe side effects, contact your doctor.

Meftaris Tablet Side-effects :-

Like all medicines, Meftaris Tablet can cause side effects, however not everyone may experience these side effects.
• Headache,
• Nausea,
• Vomiting,
• Diarrhea,
• Heartburn,
Most of these side effects are short term and get resolved with time. Although, if any of these side effects do not resolve with time or get poor, take a doctor's consultation as soon as possible.

How Meftaris Tablet Works :-

Meftaris Tablet consists of : Tranexamic acid and Mefenamic acid.
Tranexamic acid is a antifibrinolytic that cure excessive bleeding episodes by stopping the breakdown of blood clots.
Mefenamic Acid :
Mefenamic acid is a non-steroidal anti inflammatory drug (NSAID) that give relief from menstrual pain by blocking the release of a chemical called prostaglandins, which increases pain and swelling.
Thus, Meftaris Tablet treats pain and heavy bleeding during menstruation.

Precautions & Warnings :-

• Avoid taking Meftaris Tablet if you have allergy to Mefenamic acid and Tranexamic acid. Take immediate medical attention if you observe any symptoms like skin rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), serious dizziness, breathing difficulty, etc.
• Meftaris Tablet has to be used with caution if you have any of the kidney problems, a history of convulsion or if have/had a blood clots. Tell your doctor about all these conditions and also if you are pregnant or are breastfeeding. 
• Pregnancy :
It is not suggested to take Meftaris Tablet during pregnancy since it may lead to abnormalities in your developing foetus. If you take Meftaris Tablet, it can delay your labour and grow the risk of bleeding. Inform your doctor before taking Meftaris Tablet if you are pregnant.
• Breast-feeding :
If you are breastfeeding, it is not suggested to take Meftaris Tablet as there is no enough data available to see if this medicine passes into your breastmilk. So, talk to your doctor before taking Meftaris Tablet if you are breastfeeding.
• Coronary Artery Bypass Surgery (CABG) :
Coronary Artery Bypass Surgery (CABG) is a surgical technique that is used to restore normal blood flow to your heart. Meftaris Tablet cure blood clots from breaking, leading to obstruction in your normal blood flow. So, if you recently had bypass surgery, you must not take Meftaris Tablet.
• Asthma :
Meftaris Tablet can give rise to allergic reactions like constriction of your airways leading to difficulty in breathing. If you have asthma, tell your doctor beforehand as this medicine can activate asthma attacks.
• Subarachnoid hemorrhage :
Subarachnoid haemorrhage is bleeding between your brain and the tissue which covers the brain. You must not take Meftaris Tablet in such conditions as it cures the breakdown of blood clots and can cause obstruction to the blood flow and blood thickening. Using this medicine in cases of subarachnoid haemorrhage is not suggested, as it can worsen your condition and give rise to cerebral oedema (swelling of the brain) and infarction (obstruction of the blood supply to an organ). 
• Obstructive blood clotting disorder :
Obstructive blood clotting disorder is an abnormal formation of blood clots due to certain problems like slow blood flow through your veins, an irregularity in clot formation components, and/or damage to the blood vessel wall. Meftaris Tablet works by preventing the breakdown of clots. So, it is not suggested for use if you have any clotting disorders as this may worsen your condition.
• Peptic ulcer :
Peptic ulcers are open sores that develop in your stomach when there is more production of stomach acid. You should take Meftaris Tablet with extreme caution if you are suffering from peptic ulcer disease as Meftaris Tablet can increase the risk of serious stomach bleeding.
• Allergic skin reactions
Meftaris Tablet can give rise to serious skin allergies. If you observe any signs and symptoms like rashes, hives (itchy, painful eruptions that sting), or other allergic symptoms, report them immediately to your doctor. You can stop the treatment on your doctor’s recommendation.
• Eye disorders
If you have any problems related to the eyes, take Meftaris Tablet with caution as it can grow the risk of visual disturbances.  You must get a regular eye test performed before starting the medication and also at regular intervals throughout the treatment.
• Gastrointestinal Diseases :
Long term use of Meftaris Tablet can lead to damage your stomach and intestine leading to critical conditions like bleeding and ulceration in your stomach or intestinal wall. Tell your doctor if you undergo any symptoms indicating ulceration and bleeding like chronic indigestion, the appearance of coffee coloured dry blood in stools, or vomiting of blood.
• Impaired kidney function :
Taking Meftaris Tablet for a longer period of time can give rise to kidney problems, like painful urination and blood in your urine. Hence, use Meftaris Tablet cautiously if you have any of the kidney problems. Your doctor will recommend tests to monitor your kidney function while taking Meftaris Tablet.
Impaired liver function :
If you have any liver problems, ask your pharmacist/doctor about how Meftaris Tablet can affect your liver. Using Meftaris Tablet if you have pre-existing liver problems, can give rise to serious side effects leading to liver failure.
• Epilepsy :
Inform your doctor if you have epilepsy. It is necessary to discuss with your doctor how Meftaris Tablet will affect your condition.
• Meftaris Tablet can be interaction with other medicine such as : ramipril, methotrexate, warfarin, reteplase, acalabrutinib, tenecteplase, carfilzomib, urokinase and alteplase, etc.
• Use of hormonal contraceptives
If you are taking any hormonal contraceptives (birth control) such as pills, patches, vaginal rings, or injections, avoid taking Meftaris Tablet. Meftaris Tablet can increase the risk of critical side effects in such cases. The risk is more if you are overweight, smoke cigarettes, or your age is above 35.
• Meftaris Tablet is not suggested for use in children less than 14 years of age.
• You can undergo blurred vision or dizziness after taking Meftaris Tablet. So, it is suggested not to drive vehicles and operate any machines after taking Meftaris Tablet.
• Alcohol can grow the risk of side effects like dizziness, drowsiness, confusion, difficulty in concentrating, and stomach bleeding when taken along with Meftaris Tablet. It is suggestef that you limit or stop the consumption of alcohol during treatment with Meftaris Tablet.
