Glyciphage Tablet Uses :-
Glyciphage tablet is used in the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus. Glyciphage tablet helps to control blood sugar level and prevents serious complications of diabetes.
By lowering or controlling blood sugar levels in this way, you can reduce your risk of serious complications of diabetes such as kidney damage, nerve problems, eye damage and loss of organs.
When Glyciphage tablet is used along with a healthy diet and exercise, it helps a lot in controlling blood sugar.
Apart from this, Glyciphage tablet is used to treat polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), a menstrual disorder in women.
Glyciphage Tablet Dosage :-
Glyciphage tablet is a prescription medicine. Take Glyciphage tablet as directed by your doctor. Use Glyciphage tablet exactly as directed by the doctor. Do not take a higher or lower dose than directed by your doctor.
Glyciphage tablet should be taken during or after a meal. Never self-medicate or change the dosage without a doctor's advice. Do not take 2 or more doses at the same time.
Always try to take Glyciphage tablet on regular schedule. Always take the tablet even if you feel well or your blood sugar level is under control. Do not stop taking without your doctor's advice. Otherwise, your blood sugar level may rise again. Do not stop taking Metformin hydrochloride tablet without asking your doctor. Because the treatment of diabetes is lifelong.
How Does Glyciphage tablet Work :-
Glyciphage tablet contains : Metformin Hydrochloride.
Metformin Hydrochloride :
Metformin hydrochloride is an antidiabetic medicine belonging to a class of drugs called biguanides.
Metformin delays the absorption of glucose from the intestines, by reducing the production of glucose in the liver. And thus metformin works by increasing the sensitivity of the body to insulin.
Thus Glyciphage tablet works by controlling the level of sugar in the blood.
Glyciphage Tablet Sideeffects :-
Low blood sugar (hypoglycemia),
Nausea,
Vomiting,
Change in taste,
Diarrhea,
Stomach ache,
Stomach enlargement,
Loss of appetite and many other side effects can occur.
Safety Advice :-
Pregnancy : Safe
Glyciphage tablet is safe to use during pregnancy. Animal studies have shown no or no adverse effects on the developing baby.
Breastfeeding : Safe
Glyciphage tablet is safe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that Glyciphage does not represent any risk to the baby.
Driving : Caution
Your ability to drive may be affected if your blood sugar is too high or low during treatment with Glyciphage tablet. Do not drive if you have these symptoms.
Kidney : Caution
Glyciphage tablet should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Glyciphage tablet may be needed. Consult your doctor for this. Use of Glyciphage tablet is generally not advised in patients with severe kidney disease. Regular monitoring of kidney function tests is advised while you are taking Glyciphage tablet.
Liver : Caution
Glyciphage tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Glyciphage tablet may be needed. Consult your doctor for this. Low dose of Glyciphage tablet is generally started in patients with mild liver disease and use of Glyciphage tablet is not recommended in patients with severe liver disease.
Alcohol : Unsafe
It is unsafe to consume alcohol while taking Glyciphage tablet. Therefore, do not consume alcohol after taking Glyciphage tablet.
