About Bronchitis :
Bronchitis is an inflammation of the lining of our bronchial tubes, which carry air from the lungs. People who have bronchitis often cough up thick mucus. Bronchitis can be acute or chronic.
Developing from a cold or other respiratory infection, acute bronchitis is very common.
Chronic bronchitis is a persistent irritation or inflammation of the lining of the bronchial tubes, caused by smoking. If you have frequent bouts of bronchitis, you may have chronic bronchitis.
Acute bronchitis usually improves without lasting effects within a week to 10 days, while the cough persists for weeks.
Symptoms of Bronchitis :
Symptoms of Acute Bronchitis or Chronic Bronchitis -
• Cough
• Shortness of breath
• Chest discomfort
• Production of mucus
• Tiredness
• Mild fever and chills
If you have acute bronchitis, you may have symptoms of a cold, including a mild headache or body aches. However, these symptoms usually improve in about a week.
Cause of Bronchitis :
Acute bronchitis is usually caused by viruses, the same viruses that cause colds and flu (influenza). Antibiotic drugs do not kill the virus, so this type of medicine is not useful in bronchitis.
The most common causes of chronic bronchitis are cigarette smoking, air pollution and dust or toxic gases in the environment or workplace can also contribute to chronic bronchitis.
