Motion Sickness :-
People who get carsick, seasick or airsick are undergoing motion sickness. The condition give rise to cold sweats, nausea and vomiting.
Women and children are more inclined to motion sickness, but it can affect anyone. You can take steps while traveling to lower your risk of getting sick.
What is a Motion Sickness ?
Motion sickness take place when your brain can not make sense of information sent from your eyes, ears and body.
Lots of motion in a car, airplane, boat, or even an amusement park ride can make you feel sick, clammy or sick to your stomach. Some people vomit.
Who might get Motion Sickness ?
An approximate one in three people get motion sickness at some point.
Women, and children from age two to 12 years are most at risk. Still, the condition can affect anyone.
The factors increase your chances of getting motion sickness are :
• Family history of motion sickness.
• Hormonal birth control.
• Inner ear disorders.
• Menstrual periods.
• Migraines.
• Parkinson’s disease.
• Pregnancy.
Causes of Motion Sickness :-
Your brain gest signals from motion-sensing parts of your body like your eyes, inner ears, muscles and joints. When these parts send clash information, your brain does not know whether you are stationary or moving. Your brain's jumbled reaction makes you feel unwell.
( A ) For instance, when travelling in a car, your :
• Eyes see trees passing by and notes movement.
• Inner ears feel movement.
• Muscles and joints feel that your body is sitting still.
• Brain feel a disconnect among these messages.
( B ) Many actions can activate motion sickness, like :
• Amusement park rides and virtual reality undergo.
• Reading while in motion.
• Roaming in a boat, car, bus, train or plane.
• Video games and movies.
Symptoms of Motion Sickness :-
Motion sickness can take you by surprise. You can feel fine one moment and then immediately undergo some of these symptoms :
• Cold sweats.
• Dizziness.
• Fatigue.
• Headache.
• Irritability.
• Incapacity to concentrate.
• Increased saliva, nausea and vomiting.
• light skin.
• Fast breathing or gulping for air.
Diagnosis of Motion Sickness :-
Your doctor asks you to tell about your symptoms and what brings on these symptoms. Your doctor can also do a physical exam and check your eyes and ears.
Treatment of Motion Sickness :-
You have some options to cure motion sickness or treat symptoms.
Motion sickness treatments involve :
Usually used to treat allergies, antihistamines can also cure motion sickness and relieve symptoms. Only antihistamines that give rise to drowsiness are successfull. Nondrowsy formulas would not help. Such as, dimenhydrinate, meclizine, promethazine or diphenhydramine
Complications of Motion Sickness :-
Motion sickness does not tend to cause crotical problems. Hardly, some people can not stop throwing up. More vomiting can give rise to dehydration and low blood pressure (hypotension).
Prevention of Motion Sickness :-
These actions can reduce your chances of getting unwell or ease symptoms if they take place :
• Herbs :
Breathe in pacify mint, ginger or lavender scents. Suck on hard candies made up of peppermint or ginger.
• Diet and drink :
Drink plenty of water. Choose low-fat, bland, starchy foods before traveling. Dont eat heavy meals and greasy, spicy or acidic foods that can upset your stomach. Do not drink alcohol or smoke.
• Fresh air :
Direct air outlet to blow toward you. And roll down windows in cars.
• Distant gaze :
Keep down the phone, tablet or book. Instead, look at an object which is far away or at the horizon.
• Lie back :
Lie down, if possible, and close your eyes.
• Pressure points :
Wear acupressure wristbands.
You should always face forward when traveling. Where you sit can also make a variance to minimize disruptive motion:
Boat: Take a seat in the middle of the boat on the upper deck.
• Bus : Choose a window seat.
• Car : Sit on the front seat.
• Cruise ship : choose a cabin toward the front or middle of the ship. If you can, selecr one on a lower level, closer to the water.
• Plane : Sit in the wing section.
• Train : Choose a forward-facing window seat.
