Droxiget Capsule is prescribed for the treatment of sickle cell anemia and head and neck cancer.
Droxiget Capsule Composition :-
Droxiget Capsule consists of : Hydroxyurea 500 mg.
Hydroxyurea is a antimetabolites.
Droxiget Capsule Uses :-
Droxiget Capsule is an anti-cancer medicine. Droxiget capsule is used alone or in combination with other cancer drugs or radiotherapy in the treatment of various chronic myeloid leukemias and cancers of the head, neck and cervix. Droxiget capsule is used to reduce painful crisis and the need for blood transfusions in adults with sickle cell anemia and in children 2 years of age and older.
Droxiget Capsule is used for the treatment of :
• Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia (CML) :
Droxiget Capsule is used in the treatment of Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia (CML). Chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML) is a type of cancer that affects the blood cells and bone marrow.
• Head & Neck Cancer :
Droxiget Capsule is used in the treatment of cancer affecting the head and neck.
• Cervical Cancer :
Droxiget Capsule is used in the treatment of cancer affecting the cervix.
• Sickle Cell Anemia :
Droxiget Capsule is used to reduce the pain crises in sickle cell anemia, sickle cell anemia is a genetic disease affecting the blood cells.
Droxiget Capsule Dosage :-
Droxiget Capsule is a prescription medicine.
Take Droxiget Capsule properly as your doctor tells you to take it.
Do take Droxiget Capsule one time a day.
Do take Droxiget Capsule with food or without food.
Don't cut, crush, or chew the Droxiget Capsule.
Dose of Droxiget Capsule depends on several factors such as your weight, general health or other health problems, and the type of cancer or condition being treated. Accordingly your doctor will determine your dosage and schedule.
Droxiget Capsule Side-effects :-
Common side effects of Droxiget Capsule:
• Nausea,
• Low blood counts,
• Gastrointestinal symptoms,
• Anorexia,
These are not all the possible side effects of Droxiget Capsule. Consult your doctor and if you have any new or worsening side effects.
Precautions & Warnings :-
• Not recommended in patients with known allergy to the constituent hydroxyurea of Droxiget capsule or any other inactive ingredients present along with it.
• Droxiget capsule is not recommended for use in pregnant women due to the increased risk of birth defects.
• Droxiget capsule is not recommended for use in patients having bone marrow suppression due to an increased risk of worsening of the patient's condition.
• Droxiget Capsule is not recommended for use in pregnant women, unless absolutely necessary. All risks and benefits should be discussed with the doctor before starting the treatment with Droxiget Capsule.
• Droxiget Capsule is not recommended for use in women who are breastfeeding. All the risks and benefits should be discussed with the doctor before using Droxiget Capsule. Depending on your clinical condition, your doctor may recommend discontinuing the drug or discontinuing breastfeeding.
• Droxiget Capsule causes bone marrow suppression which decreases the white blood cell count (neutrophils) and platelets. The blood cell count should be closely monitored.
• Droxiget Capsule can cause secondary cancers especially leukemia and skin cancer. Signs and symptoms should be closely monitored.
• Exposure to sunlight or tanning beds should be avoided during treatment with Droxiget Capsule. Wear protective clothing and use sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher) if you go out in the sun.
• Droxiget Capsule can cause blood vessel toxicity such as vasculitic ulceration and gangrene, especially in patients receiving interferon therapy.
• Droxiget Capsule is not recommended for use in combination with antiretroviral agents for the HIV disease.
• Pregnancy should be avoided during treatment with Droxiget Capsule and by using birth control methods for 6-12 months following treatment.
• Droxiget Capsule may cause dizziness in some patients. Therefore it is advised not to drive or operate machinery in case you experience dizziness during treatment with Droxiget Capsule.
• Droxiget Capsule interacts with other medicine such as :
- Live attenuated vaccines and related products,
- Etanercept
- Didanosine
- Ddalimumab
- Clozapine etc.
• Droxiget Capsule should be used with caution in patients suffering from kidney diseases due to an increased risk of serious adverse effects.
• Droxiget Capsule should be used with caution in patients having seizures as it may increase the risk of worsening of the patient's condition.
• Droxiget Capsule should be used with caution in patients suffering from liver diseases due to an increased risk of adverse effects.
• Droxiget capsule should be used with caution in patients with brain disorders due to an increased risk of worsening of the patient's condition.
