Duloxetine and Methylcobalamin is prescribed for the treatment of neuropathic pain.
Duloxetine and Methylcobalamin Dosage forms Strength :-
Duloxetine 20 mg and Methylcobalamin 500 mg tablets for oral administration only.
Duloxetine and Methylcobalamin Uses :-
Duloxetine and Methylcobalamin is an anticonvulsants medicine. Duloxetine and Methylcobalamin is a used for the treatment of neuropathic pain.
Duloxetine and Methylcobalamin Dosage :-
Duloxetine and Methylcobalamin is a prescription medicine. Take Duloxetine and Methylcobalamin as directed by your doctor.
Swallow the Duloxetine and Methylcobalamin with a glass of water; Don't chew it, or break the pill.
Duloxetine and Methylcobalamin can be taken with or without food.
Your doctor will decide the dosage of Duloxetine and Methylcobalamin depending on your medical condition and for how long.
Never self-medicate or change the dosage without a doctor's advice.
Do not take 2 or more doses at the same time. Always try to take Duloxetine and Methylcobalamin on regular schedule.
Duloxetine and Methylcobalamin Side-effects :-
Like all medicines, Duloxetine and Methylcobalamin can cause side effects, however not everyone may experience these side effects.
• Drowsiness,
• Nausea,
• Constipation,
• Headache
• Dry mouth,
• Increased sweating,
• Warm sensation (burning pain),
Most of these side effects are short term and get resolved with time. Although, if any of these side effects do not resolve with time or get poor, take a doctor's consultation as soon as possible.
How Duloxetine and Methylcobalamin Works :-
Duloxetine and Methylcobalamin contains a combination of two medicines : Methylcobalamin & Duloxetine.
Methylcobalamin :
Methylcobalamin is a vitamin B12. Methylcobalamin works by helping to rejuvenate and protect damaged nerve cells by producing a substance called myelin (protective layer of nerve cells).
Duloxetine :
Duloxetine is a selective-serotonin reuptake (SSRI) inhibitor. Duloxetine increases the levels of chemical messengers (such as serotonin and noradrenaline) in the brain. This chemical messenger is needed to control pain traveling through damaged nerves.
Thus, Duloxetine and Methylcobalamin effectively treats neuropathic pain, improving nerve conduction, functioning of nerve signals in the body.
Precautions & Warnings :-
• Do not take Duloxetine and Methylcobalamin if you are allergic to duloxetine or methylcobalamin, components of Duloxetine and Methylcobalamin.
• Before taking Duloxetine and Methylcobalamin, tell your doctor if you have taken any antidepressants or medicines used to treat infections within the past 14 days.
• Duloxetine and Methylcobalamin is not recommended for use in children and young adults, as it has an increased risk of suicidal tendencies.
• Before taking Duloxetine and Methylcobalamin, tell your doctor if you have liver diseases or kidney disease, seizures, mania, hyponatremia (low blood sodium), glaucoma, bleeding disorders, or hyponatremia is ( low blood sodium ), patients taking diuretics or water pills, etc.
• Consult your doctor if symptoms such as dizziness, tingling sensation, sleep disturbances, restlessness, nausea or vomiting, headache, or excessive sweating return on discontinuing Duloxetine and Methylcobalamin. Therefore, do not stop taking Duloxetine and Methylcobalamin suddenly even if there is an improvement in neuropathic pain symptoms.
• Duloxetine and Methylcobalamin may increase suicidal thoughts in patients with mania, bipolar disorder or depression, therefore caution is advised.
• Long-term use of Duloxetine and Methylcobalamin can lead to low sodium levels which may affect your blood pressure and blood sugar levels, thus may require regular medical checkups.
• Duloxetine and Methylcobalamin may increase the risk of bleeding, and may worsen the condition of glaucoma. So, if you experience any kind of eye problem or bleeding problem, you should consult your doctor.
• Duloxetine and Methylcobalamin can interact with certain medications :
- Antidepressants like paroxetine, fluoxetine, venlafaxine, clomipramine and amitriptyline),
antibiotic (linezolid),
- Opioid analgesic (tramadol) and herbal medicine used to treat skin problems etc.
• Do not consume alcohol while using Duloxetine and Methylcobalamin. Because alcohol can make the condition worse by increasing the risk of side-effects.
• Duloxetine and Methylcobalamin should be used with caution in patients with heart problems, liver diseases, kidney diseases, glaucoma (increased pressure in the eye), alcoholism, drug abuse and suicidal tendencies.
• Duloxetine and Methylcobalamin is not recommended for use in pregnant women.
• Duloxetine and Methylcobalamin should be used with caution in lactating mothers.
• Avoid driving or operating heavy machinery when using Duloxetine and Methylcobalamin, as Duloxetine and Methylcobalamin may cause sleepiness.
• Duloxetine and Methylcobalamin should be used with caution in patients with liver diseases.
