Myelostat 500 mg Capsule Uses :-
Myelostat 500 mg Capsule is an anti-cancer medicine. Myelostat 500 mg capsule is used alone or in combination with other cancer drugs or radiotherapy in the treatment of various chronic myeloid leukemias and cancers of the head, neck and cervix. Myelostat 500 mg capsule is used to reduce painful crisis and the need for blood transfusions in adults with sickle cell anemia and in children 2 years of age and older.
Myelostat 500 mg Capsule is used for the treatment of :
• Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia (CML) :
Myelostat 500 mg Capsule is used in the treatment of Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia (CML). Chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML) is a type of cancer that affects the blood cells and bone marrow.
• Head & Neck Cancer :
Myelostat 500 mg Capsule is used in the treatment of cancer affecting the head and neck.
• Cervical Cancer :
Myelostat 500 mg Capsule is used in the treatment of cancer affecting the cervix.
• Sickle Cell Anemia :
Myelostat 500 mg Capsule is used to reduce the pain crises in sickle cell anemia, sickle cell anemia is a genetic disease affecting the blood cells.
Myelostat 500 mg Capsule Dosage :-
Myelostat 500 mg Capsule is a prescription medicine.
Take Myelostat 500 mg Capsule properly as your doctor tells you to take it.
Do take Myelostat 500 mg Capsule one time a day.
Do take Myelostat 500 mg Capsule with food or without food.
Don't cut, crush, or chew the Myelostat 500 mg Capsule.
Dose of Myelostat 500 mg Capsule depends on several factors such as your weight, general health or other health problems, and the type of cancer or condition being treated. Accordingly your doctor will determine your dosage and schedule.
Myelostat 500 mg Capsule Side-effects :-
Common side effects of Myelostat 500 mg Capsule:
• Nausea,
• Low blood counts,
• Gastrointestinal symptoms,
• Anorexia,

Precautions & Warnings :-
• Not recommended in patients with known allergy to the constituent hydroxyurea of Myelostat 500 mg capsule or any other inactive ingredients present along with it.
• Myelostat 500 mg capsule is not recommended for use in pregnant women due to the increased risk of birth defects.
• Myelostat 500 mg capsule is not recommended for use in patients having bone marrow suppression due to an increased risk of worsening of the patient's condition.
• Myelostat 500 mg Capsule is not recommended for use in pregnant women, unless absolutely necessary. All risks and benefits should be discussed with the doctor before starting the treatment with Myelostat 500 mg Capsule.
• Myelostat 500 mg Capsule is not recommended for use in women who are breastfeeding. All the risks and benefits should be discussed with the doctor before using Myelostat 500 mg Capsule. Depending on your clinical condition, your doctor may recommend discontinuing the drug or discontinuing breastfeeding.
• Myelostat 500 mg Capsule causes bone marrow suppression which decreases the white blood cell count (neutrophils) and platelets. The blood cell count should be closely monitored.
• Myelostat 500 mg Capsule can cause secondary cancers especially leukemia and skin cancer. Signs and symptoms should be closely monitored.
• Exposure to sunlight or tanning beds should be avoided during treatment with Myelostat 500 mg Capsule. Wear protective clothing and use sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher) if you go out in the sun.
• Myelostat 500 mg Capsule can cause blood vessel toxicity such as vasculitic ulceration and gangrene, especially in patients receiving interferon therapy.
• Myelostat 500 mg Capsule is not recommended for use in combination with antiretroviral agents for the HIV disease.
• Pregnancy should be avoided during treatment with Myelostat 500 mg Capsule and by using birth control methods for 6-12 months following treatment.
• Myelostat 500 mg Capsule may cause dizziness in some patients. Therefore it is advised not to drive or operate machinery in case you experience dizziness during treatment with Myelostat 500 mg Capsule.
• Myelostat 500 mg Capsule interacts with other medicine such as :
- Live attenuated vaccines and related products,
- Etanercept
- Didanosine
- Ddalimumab
- Clozapine etc.
• Myelostat 500 mg Capsule should be used with caution in patients suffering from kidney diseases due to an increased risk of serious adverse effects.
• Myelostat 500 mg Capsule should be used with caution in patients having seizures as it may increase the risk of worsening of the patient's condition.
• Myelostat 500 mg Capsule should be used with caution in patients suffering from liver diseases due to an increased risk of adverse effects.
• Myelostat 500 mg capsule should be used with caution in patients with brain disorders due to an increased risk of worsening of the patient's condition.
