Moxam 400 Tablet Composition :-

Moxam 400 Tablet consists of : Moxifloxacin Hydrochloride 400 mg.
• Moxifloxacin is a quinolone antibiotics.

Moxam 400 Tablet Uses :-

Moxam 400 Tablet is an antibiotic. Moxam 400 Tablet is used for the treatment of bacterial infections that affect the skin, lungs, nose, stomach, and intestines. Moxam 400 Tablet is effective against a large number of bacteria.

Moxam 400 Tablet Dosage :-

Moxam 400 Tablet is a prescription medicine. Moxam 400 Tablet should be taken with or without food, as advised by doctor. The dose of Moxam 400 Tablet is determined on the type and severity of the bacterial infections.
Your doctor will suggest the dose of Moxam 400 Tablet based on your condition.
Complete the full course of treatment for maximum benefit and to cure the risk of re-infection. Finish the full course of antibiotics medicine.
Do not take more or use it for a longer duration than prescribed by your doctor.

Moxam 400 Tablet Side-effects :-

Like all medicines, Moxam 400 Tablet can cause side effects, however not everyone may experience these side effects. Some side-effect of Moxam 400 Tablet : 
• Nausea,
• Vomiting,
• Dizziness,
• Stomach pain,
• Diarrhea,
All these are not the possible side effects of Moxam 400 Tablet.
Most of these side effects are short term and get resolved with time. Although, if any of these side effects do not resolve with time or get poor, take a doctor's consultation as soon as possible.

How Moxam 400 Tablet Works :-

Moxam 400 Tablet consists of : Moxifloxacin.
Moxifloxacin is a quinolone antibiotics. Moxifloxacin works by blocking the action of an enzyme which is required for bacterial multiplication. 
Thus Moxam 400 Tablet prevents further growth of bacteria and kills the infection-causing bacteria.

Precautions & Warnings :-

• Do not take Moxam 400 Tablet if you are allergic to moxifloxacin. Seek immediate medical attention if you notice symptoms like skin rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, breathing difficulty, etc.
• Tell your doctor if you have diabetes, heart problems, or liver problems before starting the treatment.
• Moxam 400 Tablet is not suggested for use in children below 18 years of age due to a lack of safety and efficacy data.
• Moxam 400 Tablet is not suggested if you have moderate to critical liver problems or high liver enzyme levels (>5 times the upper normal limit). Moxam 400 Tablet is broken down in your liver and impaired liver function can give rise to the accumulation of this medicine. So, it may worsen your condition and give rise to further liver damage.
• QT prolongation is a condition in which your heart muscles takes a more time to recharge between a heart beat. Moxam 400 Tablet can cause QT prolongation, so it is not suggested if you have heart failure (condition in which heart is not able to pump enough amount of blood), arrhythmia (abnormal heart rhythm), electrolyte disturbances (abnormal concentration of electrolyte levels in the body) especially low potassium levels, and/or bradycardia (slow heart beat) as it can worsen your condition.
• Moxam 400 Tablet is not suggested for use during pregnancy as it can cause harm to your foetus. Consult to your doctor if you are pregnant.
• Moxam 400 Tablet is not suggested during breastfeeding as it may pass into breastmilk and harm your baby. Consult to your doctor if you are breastfeeding.
• Antibiotic resistance take place when bacteria develop the capacity to defeat the medicine that was intended to kill them. So, to avoid such resistance, you should always complete the entire course of treatment even if you feel better.
• Moxam 400 Tablet can cause dizziness, confusion, or disorientation. So, do not performe any activities that require mental alertness such as driving vehicles or operating machines if you experience any of these symptoms.
• Moxam 400 Tablet can cause diarrhea as this medicine can also kill the helpful bacteria in your stomach or intestine. Call your doctor if you experience severe watery or bloody diarrhea. Consult your doctor before taking anti-diarrhoeal medication.
• If you are taking an antacid for indigestion, it can lower the effect of Moxam 400 Tablet. So it is suggested to take this antibiotic 2 to 4 hours before or 4 to 6 hours after taking an antacid.
• Moxam 400 Tablet must be used with caution in elderly people as they are more susceptible to increased risk of side effects.
• Moxam 400 Tablet can make your skin more sensitive to sunlight or UV light. Hence, you should avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight/UV light while taking Moxam 400 Tablet.
• Moxam 400 Tablet may increase the risk of tremors, agitation, restlessness, anxiety, confusion, hallucinations, sleeplessness, seizures, etc. So therapy with Moxam 400 Tablet should be administered cautiously if you have a history of these conditions. Tell your doctor immediately if you undergo any symptoms.
• Myasthenia gravis is a disorder that causes weakness of your skeletal muscles that are responsible for movement. Moxam 400 Tablet should be used with caution if you have myasthenia gravis as this can further cause muscle weakness and worsen your condition. Talk to your doctor before taking Moxam 400 Tablet.
• Peripheral neuropathy is a condition of nerve damage resulting in weakness, numbness, sensitivity to touch, pain mostly in the hands and feet. Moxam 400 Tablet should be used with caution as it can lead to peripheral neuropathy. Talk to your doctor if you have peripheral neuropathy or if you undergo any symptoms that continue or worsens.
• Tendon is the connective tissue that joins muscle to the bone. Moxam 400 Tablet can increase the risk of tendonitis (swelling of the tendon) and tendon rupture (a partial or complete tear of your tendon). Do not take Moxam 400 Tablet if you have a history of these conditions.
• If you have diabetes, Moxam 400 Tablet should be used with caution as it can alter your blood sugar levels. Monitor your blood sugar levels regularly while taking Moxam 400 Tablet.
• Multivitamins with minerals lower the effectiveness of Moxam 400 Tablet when taken together. So, do not take multivitamins with minerals while on treatment with Moxam 400 Tablet. If indicated for use, Moxam 400 Tablet should be taken 2 to 4 hours before or 4 to 6 hours after taking medicines containing magnesium, aluminum, calcium, iron and/or other minerals.
• Moxam 400 Tablet interaction with other medicine like: Escitalopram, Ethinyl Estradiol, Quinidine, Aspirin, Antacids containing calcium/magnesium/aluminum, Warfarin, Metformin and Corticosteroids etc.
• Moxam 400 Tablet may cause low blood sugar and mental health related side effects.
