Opsutan Tablet Uses :-

Opsutan Tablet is an anti-hypertensive medicine. Opsutan Tablet is used to treat high blood pressure in the arteries of the lungs (Pulmonary arterial hypertension, PAH ) in adults patients.

Opsutan Tablet Dosage :-

Opsutan Tablet should be taken exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Opsutan Tablet can be taken with or without food. The dosage of Opsutan Tablet will be decided by your doctor depending on your condition.
Opsutan Tablet be Swallow whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Never self-medicate or change the dosage without a doctor's advice. Do not take 2 or more doses at the same time. 
However, it is recommend to take Opsutan Tablet at the same time each day as this helps to control a compatible level of medicine in the body.
Opsutan Tablet should be taken at a fixed time each day. Because by this proper level of medicine can be maintained in the blood.
Continue taking Opsutan Tablet as long as the doctor has prescribed it. To avoid recurrence of the disease, complete the course as advised by your doctor, even if you feel better.

Like all medicines, Opsutan Tablet can cause side effects, however not everyone may experience these side effects.
• Headache,
• Stuffy nose or sore throat,
Most of these side effects are short term and get resolved with time. Although, if any of these side effects do not resolve with time or get poor, take a doctor's consultation as soon as possible.

How Opsutan Tablet Works :-

Opsutan tablets contain 'Macitentan'.
Macitentan works by blocking the action of endothelin, a natural substance that constricts blood vessels and increases blood pressure. Macitentan dilates the narrowed pulmonary arteries (blood vessels that carry blood from the heart to the lungs) and increases blood supply, thereby lowering blood pressure.

Precautions Warnings :-

• Do not take Opsutan Tablet, if you are allergic to Macitentan.
• Inform your doctor if you have low blood pressure, problems of the liver, lungs, heart disease, kidneys and anemia (lack of blood cells).
• It is recommended to consult a doctor if you are pregnant or a lactating mother.
• Do not stop taking Opsutan Tablet without talking to your doctor first as this may worsen your condition and increase your risk of heart problems in future.
• Do not consume alcohol with Opsutan Tablet as it can increase the risk of hypotension (low blood pressure).
• Please inform your doctor if you have had a lung condition (pulmonary fibrosis)hypotension (low blood pressure), heart failure, liver or kidney diseases, anemia, and edema (fluid retention) before starting Opsutan Tablet.
• Women should get a pregnancy test done before starting Opsutan Tablet. Opsutan Tablet is contraindicated during pregnancy and may harm the fetus.
• Before using Opsutan Tablet you must get a negative pregnancy test to be sure. Also, if you are on treatment with Opsutan Tablet, to avoid pregnancy, please use reliable forms of birth control. if you 
• Breastfeeding mothers should consult their doctor before using Opsutan tablet.
• To avoid recurrence of the disease, complete the course as advised by your doctor, even if you feel better.
• Opsutan Tablet can cause side effects such as weaknessdizziness, affect your ability to concentrate and drive, so do not drive or operate machinery.
• Avoid consuming alcohol with Opsutan Tablet, as it increases the risk of hypotension (low blood pressure)
• Opsutan Tablet is not recommended for use in patients below 18 years of age. Because the safety and effectiveness of Opsutan Tablet in patients below the age of 18 have not been established.
• Opsutan tablet can interact with certain types of other medicines like,
antibiotics (eg rifampicin, clarithromycin),
medicine used to treat seizures (such as phenytoin),
medicine used to treat depression and epilepsy (such as carbamazepine),
medicines used to treat HIV infection (eg ritonavir, saquinavir),
anti-fungal medicines (eg fluconazole, itraconazole),
medicine used to control the heartbeat (such as amiodarone),
medicine used to prevent organ rejection after a transplant (such as cyclosporine),
Medicines used to treat high blood pressure or specific heart problems (such as diltiazem, verapamil).
• Alcohol can increase the side effects of Opsutan Tablet. Hence, it is advised to limit the consumption of alcohol while using Opsutan Tablet.
• People with congestive heart failure, liver or kidney diseases, a lung condition (pulmonary fibrosis), anemia, edema (fluid retention), low blood pressure and severe dehydration should consult their doctor before consuming Opsuton Tablet.
