About Cold :
Cold is also known as nasopharyngitis.
A cold (nasopharyngitis) is a common viral infection of the nose and throat. Colds (nasopharyngitis) can be caused by different types of viruses. It is usually harmless. The symptoms of a cold usually go away within two weeks.
Cause of Cold :
• Can be spread by small droplets released in the air when coughing or sneezing.
• Can be spread by touching a dirty or soiled surface (blanket, clothing or door latch).
• Can be spread through the saliva of the mouth (by eating junk food or drinking junk).
• Can spread through skin-to-skin contact, such as shaking hands or hugging.
Symptoms of a Cold :
Symptoms of a cold can usually be detected on their own like -
• Running nose,
• Sneezing,
• Nasal congestion,
In addition to these symptoms, people may also experience these symptoms :
• Muscle pain,
• Cough with mucus,
• Nasal symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose, loss of smell, discharge from the back of the nose that goes into the throat, or redness.
• Whole body: Feeling unwell, chills, feeling tired, body aches, or fever.
• Eye-related symptoms: such as moist eyes, itching in the eyes, or redness of the eyes.
• Head-related symptoms: such as congestion or sinus pressure.
• Headache, sore throat, chest tightness, or swollen lymph nodes (small seed-shaped glands that are found throughout the body) are also common in colds.
• It is important to see a doctor if children have high fever or severe symptoms.
Treatment for Cold :
Treatment for a cold includes anti-inflammatory drugs and medicines that open the nose. Most people recover from a cold within two weeks. Over-the-counter and home remedies can help control the symptoms of a cold.
