Empagliflozin Uses :-
Empagliflozin is used to control high blood sugar in people with type 2 diabetes mellitus.
Controlling high blood sugar in people with type 2 diabetes helps prevent problems with blindness, kidney damage, nerve problems, and loss of limbs.
Empagliflozin is also used to reduce the risk of death from heart attack or stroke in patients with heart disease with type 2 diabetes.
Empagliflozin is also used to treat heart failure.
Empagliflozin can be used alone or in combination with other antidiabetic drugs.
If your condition does not improve or gets worse, tell your doctor.
Empagliflozin Dosage :-
Empagliflozin is a prescription medicine. Take Empagliflozin as directed by your doctor.
Dosage of Empagliflozin is based on the percentage of the medical condition and response to treatment.
Take it usually once in the morning with food as directed by your doctor.
Never self-medicate or change the dosage without a doctor's advice. Do not take 2 or more doses at the same time.
Always try to take Empagliflozin on regular schedule. Always take the tablet even if you feel well or your blood sugar level is under control. Do not stop taking without your doctor's advice. Otherwise, your blood sugar level may rise again. Do not stop taking Empagliflozin without asking your doctor. Because the treatment of diabetes is lifelong.
Empagliflozin Mechanisms of Action :-
Empagliflozin :
Empagliflozin is a sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 (sglt2) inhibitors.
Empagliflozin lowers blood sugar by reducing excess glucose in the urine by the kidneys.
Thus Empagliflozin works by controlling the level of sugar in the blood.
Empagliflozin Sideeffects :-
Like all medicines, Empagliflozin can cause side effects, however not everyone may experience these side effects.
Some common side effects like :
Urinating a lot,
Increased thirst,
Frequent, urgent, burning, or painful urination,
Urine that is cloudy, red, pink, or brown
Pelvic or back pain,
Feeling tired, weak, or uncomfortable; fever and pain, accompanied by tenderness, redness, and swelling of the genitals or the area between the genitals and rectum,
Flu-like symptoms,
Hives,
Itching,
Difficulty swallowing or breathing,
Swelling of the face, throat, tongue, lips, mouth, or eyes,
hoarseness and many other side effects can occur.
Some Precaution :-
• Before taking Empagliflozin, tell your doctor, If you are allergic to Empagliflozin. So tell your doctor.
• Tell your doctor that you are taking certain medications such as prescription, nonprescription drugs, vitamins, nutritional supplements, and herbal products,
Angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors such as benazepril, captopril, enalapril, lisinopril, ramipril,
angiotensin receptor blockers such as azilsartan, irbesartan, losartan, olmesartan, telmisartan, valsartan, aspirin,
Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) such as ibuprofen, naproxen, digoxin,
Diuretic medicine,
Insulin or oral medications for diabetes such as glimepiride, glipizide,
• If you are on dialysis or have kidney disease. So you tell the doctor.
• Do you drink large amounts of alcohol regularly or occasionally in a short period of time. So you tell the doctor.
• Tell your doctor that you are on a low sodium diet.
• Have you ever had a urinary tract infection or pancreatitis including low blood pressure, high cholesterol, urination problems, heart failure, pancreatic disease, or have had surgery on your pancreas. So you tell the doctor.
• Do you have a yeast infection or liver disease in the genital area. So you tell the doctor.
• Women who are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or may become pregnant while taking Empagliflozin. So tell your doctor.
• If you are having surgery. So tell your doctor.
• Ask your doctor what to do if you become ill, get an infection or fever, experience unusual stress, or are injured. These conditions can affect your blood sugar and the amount of Empagliflozin.
