Tasigna 200 Capsule is used for the treatment of blood cancer (chronic myeloid leukaemia).
Tasigna 200 Capsule Composition :-
Tasigna 200 Capsule consists of : Nilotinib 200 mg
Nilotinib is a tyrosine kinase inhibitor.
Tasigna 200 Capsule Uses :-
Tasigna 200 Capsule is an anti-cancer medicine. Tasigna 200 Capsule is used to treat :
- Adults with freshly diagnosed Philadelphia chromosome–positive (Ph+) chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) in chronic phase.
- Adults with Ph+ CML in chronic phase and accelerated phase who no longer benefit from, or did not tolerate, other treatment, involving imatinib.
- Children (ages 1 year and older) with freshly diagnosed Ph+ CML in chronic phase
- Children (ages 1 year and older) with chronic phase Ph+ CML or accelerated phase Ph+ CML who:
- are no longer benefiting from treatment with a tyrosine kinase inhibitor medicine, or
- Have taken another tyrosine kinase inhibitor medicine and can not tolerate it.
- It is unknown if Tasigna 200 Capsule is safe and helpful in children younger than 1 year of age with freshly diagnosed, resistant, or intolerant Ph+ CML in chronic phase.
- The long-term effects of treating children with Tasigna 200 Capsule for a long period of time are unknown.
Tasigna 200 Capsule is used in patients whose disease can not be treated with other medicine for leukaemia or who cannot take these medications because of some side effects.
Tasigna 200 Capsule Dosage :-
Tasigna 200 Capsule is a prescription medicine.
Take Tasigna 200 Capsule properly as your doctor tells you to take it. Tasigna 200mg Capsule is to be taken with an empty stomach.
Don't cut, crush, or chew the Tasigna 200 Capsule.
Tasigna 200 Capsule Side-effects :-
Common Side effects in Adults and Children Include :
• Nausea
• Diarrhea
• Rash
• Cough
• Headache
• Constipation
• Tiredness
• Muscle & joint pain
• Itching
• Vomiting
• Fever
• Night sweats
Runny or stuffy nose, sneezing, sore throat.
These are not all the possible side effects of Tasigna 200 Capsule. Consult your doctor and if you have any new or worsening side effects.
How Tasigna 200 Capsule Works :-
Tasigna 200 Capsule contains : Nilotinib.
Nilotinib is a tyrosine kinase inhibitor. Nilotinib works by obstructing the action of the abnormal protein that signals cancer cells to multiply. This helps to end or slow the spread of cancer cells.
Thus, Tasigna 200 Capsule treats blood cancer (chronic myeloid leukaemia).
Precautions & Warnings :-
• QTc prolongation and sudden death: QTc prolongation leads to irregular heartbeat, which can lead to sudden death. Call your doctor right away if you feel light-headed, faint, or have an irregular heartbeat while taking Tasigna 200 Capsule. These may be symptoms of QTc prolongation.
• Your doctor should check your heart with a test known as an electrocardiogram (ECG).
• If you have long QTc syndrome or low levels of potassium or magnesium in your blood Do not take Tasigna 200 Capsule
• Tasigna 200 Capsule can associate with many medicines and supplements. This can increase your chances for critical and life-threatening side effects. Do not take any other medicine while having Tasigna 200 Capsule unless your doctor tells you it is okay to do or not.
• Food and grapefruit products grow the amount of Tasigna 200 Capsule in your body. This can increase your chances for critical and life-threatening side effects. Take Tasigna 200 Capsule with an empty stomach.
- Stop eating food for at least 2 hours before the dose is taken, and avoid eating food for at least 1 hour after the dose is taken.
- Stop having grapefruit, grapefruit juice, and any supplement which contain grapefruit extract while taking Tasigna 200 Capsule.
• Tasigna 200 Capsule can give rise to serious side effects that can even cause to death. While treatment with Tasigna 200 Capsule your doctor will do tests to check for side effects. These tests will check your heart, blood cells (white blood cells, red blood cells, and platelets), electrolytes (potassium, magnesium), cholesterol, blood sugar, and pancreas and liver function. Your doctor can tell you stop Tasigna 200 Capsule for some time or lower your dose if you have side effects. You should follow your doctor’s orders. Serious side effects include:
- Low Blood Counts,
- Reduced Blood Flow to the Legs, Heart, or Brain,
- Pancreas Inflammation (Pancreatitis),
- Liver Problems,
- Tumor Lysis Syndrome (TLS),
- Total Gastrectomy,
- Bleeding Problems,
- Lactose,
- Fluid Retention,
- Abnormal Growth or Development in Children,
- Pregnancy and Breastfeeding,
- Treatment-Free Remission in Adults,
- Drug Interactions: Tasigna 200 Capsule can associate with many medicines and supplements. This can increase your chances for critical and life-threatening side effects. Inform your doctor about all the medicines you take including prescription and over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal supplements.
• If you need to take antacids (medicines to treat heartburn) do not take them at the same time while you take Tasigna 200 Capsule. If you take :
- A medicine to obstruct the amount of acid produced in the stomach (H2 blocker): Take these medicines about 10 hours before you take Tasigna 200 Capsule or about 2 hours after you take Tasigna 200 Capsule.
- An antacid that consists aluminum hydroxide, magnesium hydroxide, and simethicone to lower the amount of acid in the stomach: Take these medicines about 2 hours before or about 2 hours after you take Tasigna 200 Capsule.
