Cilnidipine is a calcium channel blocker, which blocks the activity of calcium channels present in the blood vessels of the heart. Calcium channel blockers lower blood pressure by relaxing blood vessels, making the heart more efficient at pumping blood throughout the body. Thus, Cilnidipine treats high blood pressure (hypertension).
